The Proposed Hospital Building
In Oct 1989, the Mangeshkar family established the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation. As Lataji's father Pt. Deenanath Mangeshkar ji could not avail of timely medical help in 1942, in his last days due to lack of proper facilities & money. The Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation joined hands with Jnana Prabhodini Medical Trust to start the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital & Research Centre which would provide rational ethical medical service at reasonable cost. "This hospital will not turn away any patient in need of medical help." said Lataji.

Construction work at Hospital Site

The hospital project will be ten storied building with each floor of 27000 sq. ft. There will be 450 bed general hospital with facilities like CT scan, blood bank, endoscopic surgery, Laser surgery, kidney transplant unit, 65 beds CCU/ICU, 12 operating rooms. Hospital will have sections like neurology, nefrology, surgical oncology, cardiac surgery, neuro-surgery, medical oncology, urology and pediatric surgery.It will also have 30% free ( charitable ) beds in the proposed hospital. The hospital will also offer Ayurveda ( India's traditional medical therophy ) and Homeopathic treatment to the patients & a Cancer treatment unit, spread on 6 acres of land in heart of Pune city . The project has been designed by well known architects M/s V. V. Badwe and Co. and the construction will be done by M/s Shapoonji Pallonji. Construction of the project is in full swing it has completed basement structure.

"Gata Rahe Mera Dil" , the Musical concert by Lata Mangeshkar was performed on 16th December 2000 for this project.More than 48,000 people attended the show and contributed to the hospital.

Indian Cricket team visited the Hospital construction site on 27th March 2001.Indian Cricket team expressed their willingness to play a benefit match for the hospital.
